According to sources, the weekly comprehensive operating rate of lead-acid battery producers in five provinces monitored by SMM stood at 70.59% during August 22-29, 2025, down 1.05 percentage points WoW.

In September, the e-bike and automotive battery markets will enter the traditional peak season. However, current end-use consumption remains weak, with slow inventory digestion among dealers and limited purchasing power. Some producers have seen gradual accumulation in finished product inventories. By month-end, these lead-acid battery manufacturers have adjusted production line operating rates to alleviate inventory pressure. In September, the new national standard for e-bikes and Middle East tariffs are expected to take effect, bringing mixed impacts on consumption. Currently, most lead-acid battery producers maintain a produce-based-on-sales approach, with subsequent production dependent on order situations.
